This Crooked Timber
(2014)

It turned out my compulsion to write songs wasn't exhausted by the first album, and this time I not only had the production support of Steve Williams, but also great instrumental input from my sons Tom (bass and electric guitar) and Sam (drums) on Lucifer Rising and Walk Away to kick off the actual recording sessions. Yet again, Penny contributed some superb vocals - not least Lead Me To The Light. Too Big To Fail is for her. Racer Boy is a requiem for her Dad, who had just died. Oh, and, yes, the album title is a steal from Kant, which I thought worked for a collection of songs intended to be about the variety of human emotion ('No truly straight thing was ever built from such crooked timber as mankind is made of').
